Ivan Heredia de la Cruz

RESEARCH INTERESTS

What is the Universe made of?
What is the origin of matter-antimmater asymmetry?
Are there new forms of hadronic matter beyond the 2 or 3-quark picture?

Professor Heredia De La Cruz is searching for answers to some of the deepest mysteries of nature at the smallest scales, in the era in which the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and SuperKEKB probe the elementary particles and the fundamental interactions. A new paradigm may be also required to explain newly discovered "exotic" hadrons made of more than 3 quarks, such as tetraquarks and pentaquarks, representing exciting times for experimental hadron spectroscopy.

Prof. Heredia De La Cruz is a member of the CMS Collaboration at CERN and Belle II Collaboration at KEK, where he studies the physics of heavy flavors at both the high-energy and intensity frontiers. He exploits advanced computing tools and statistical methods (parallel computing, machine learning, Monte-Carlo, etc.) to analyze the large amount of collision data and to make high-precision measurements.
