We have studied the magnetic activity of 3d, 4d and 5d transition metal monolayers on noble metal substrates. We consider the Cu(001), Ag (001), Au(001) and Pt(001) substrates. We will present in particular our results for the Ru/Cu(001) and show that it becomes magnetic only under normal-to-the-substrate pressure, and for V/Ag(001) which we find a two-states fenomagnet. Finally we will show the influence of different substrates on the magnetic activity of Cr, Fe and Mn monolayers. We use the Surface Green Function Matching method to describe the monolayers-substrate system. The magnetic moment is calculated from the minimum of the total energy using a Hubbard hamiltonian. Our method reproduces very well known previous results.
