What is the Universe made of?
What is the origin of matter-antimmater asymmetry?
Are there new forms of hadronic matter beyond the 2 or 3-quark picture?

Professor Heredia De La Cruz is searching for answers to some of the deepest mysteries of nature at the smallest scales, in the era in which SuperKEKB and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) probe the elementary particles and the fundamental interactions. A new paradigm may be also required to explain newly discovered "exotic" hadrons made of more than 3 quarks, such as tetraquarks and pentaquarks, representing exciting times for experimental hadron spectroscopy.

Prof. Heredia De La Cruz is a member of the Belle II Collaboration at KEK and CMS Collaboration at CERN, where he studies the physics of heavy flavors at both the intensity and high-energy frontiers. He exploits advanced computing tools and statistical methods (parallel computing, machine learning, Monte-Carlo, etc.) to analyze the large amount of collision data and to make high-precision measurements.
